Where will you do most of the work at Sky House Company? 

Where you will work will be determined by what position you are applying or accepted for at Sky House Company. There is a large amount of tracking, filing, organizing, updating, planning, estimating, and communication with clients that goes on in our custom home builder Banner Elk, North Carolina office while the stuff out in the field is very different, some employees will work in both. Most employees will be one or the other. 

 

How does the interview process at Sky House Company work? 

The interview process at our custom home builder Banner Elk, North Carolina company is simple and straightforward. There is an initial review of your resume done by our  leadership team and that serves as the first talent filter in place at Sky House Company. If we feel like a candidate could be a good fit then there will be a time scheduled to have the “Interview of First Impressions” where we actually get to meet with the potential employee candidate in person. If this goes well then our next step is what we call a “Shadow” where the qualified candidates are then getting to experience a day in the life of our custom home builder Banner Elk, North Carolina office. You will be scheduled to have a much more in depth personal interview with the Owner after the shadow. This personal interview dictates whether or not an offer will be made and what the offer will ultimately be. After acceptance of the offer, candidates then begin down the path of our onboarding system for each position to get up to speed as quickly as possible. 

 

Residential Construction Superintendent

The role of Construction Superintendent at Sky House is responsible for maintaining and overseeing the efficiency of work being performed on site.   The role requires a thorough and dedicated individual that is attentive to details and understands the urgency of a construction schedule. An acceptable candidate must have a strong character that operates with integrity throughout all tasks.  Must have customer service experience and be comfortable establishing relationships with subcontractors and homeowners. This position requires extensive knowledge of quality construction and a dedicated approach to continually learning.

 

Responsibilities

  • Project Planning: Understand how to interpret blueprints, checklists, and SOPs
  • Physical Abilities: Operate and maintain construction tools & equipment. Possess the willingness & ability to be hands on.
  • Schedule: Adhere to a construction schedule while actively communicating with the homeowner and subcontractors to sustain the project timeline.
  • Communication: Provide exceptional communication skills; adopting superior customer service skills
  • Leadership: Ability to effectively manage & lead all construction aspects including: inspections, permitting, scheduling, and reporting

 

Education, Experience, and Competencies:

  • 3 – 5  years of construction experience
  • Must have a valid driver’s license & clean driving record
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs.
  • Customer service skills
  • Proficiency with computer software
  • Strong organizational skills
  • High attention to detail
  • Superior work ethic

Pay Range: $45,000 to $65,000 per year

Residential Construction Project Manager

The role of Project Manager at Sky House is responsible for efficiently operating, leading, and overseeing each phase of a custom construction project.  This role takes a candidate that is committed to continuous improvement by approaching each task with a teachable spirit.  The role requires a proactive & serving leader that executes each project with a respectful sense of urgency.  Someone who is dedicated to challenging the status quo of building, delivering the most superior product with integrity & customer service at the forefront of the mission all while endorsing growth and success for our company; fueling a competitive demeanor and passion for being the absolute best.

 

Responsibilities

  • Project Planning: Reviewing architectural drawings and engineered plans while understanding the practical applications and concepts associated.
  • Implementing a Budget:  Maintaining a project budget by performing construction estimating and reviewing all invoices.
  • Schedule: Adhere to a construction schedule while actively communicating with the homeowner and subcontractors to sustain a project timeline.
  • Communication: Provide exceptional communication skills; adopting superior customer service skills
  • Leadership: Ability to effectively manage & lead all construction aspects including: inspections, permitting, purchasing, strategic planning, scheduling, client site visits, and reporting.

 

Education, Experience, and Competencies:

  • 5+ years of construction experience, custom home experience required
  • 4-year bachelor’s degree, preferred
  • 5+ years of project management experience leading a team
  • Customer service skills and experience
  • Proficiency with computer software
  • Strong organizational Skills
  • High attention to detail
  • Superior work ethic

 

Pay Range: $60,000 to $100,000 per year

Base pay + performance based bonuses
